The BCER operates under a Hybrid Office Model whereby employees work from both a home office and a designated BCER office location in order to support our mandate. Eligibility may vary, depending on position.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

The BCER has formed an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Committee to facilitate a work environment that values and respects equity, diversity and inclusion, while striving for continuous improvement through education, advocacy and action.

The Committee has five operating values:

  • Transparency: Being open, honest, and easy to understand in our actions and communication.
  • Accountability: Taking responsibility for our actions and following through on commitments.
  • Dignity: Recognizing that every individual has the right to be valued and respected.
  • Belonging: Fostering a community of continuous learning and practicing acceptance and respect for others.
  • Advocacy: Continuously striving for inclusion in the workplace and uplifting voices of those who may not always be heard.

The Committee’s mandate is to provide recommendations, advice and information to the BCER on the following:

  • Remove barriers to inclusion at the BCER.
  • Achieve a greater understanding of diversity to help build an equitable, diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Collaborate on BCER’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion plans and processes via a diversity lens, to make sure they are executed with an emphasis on increasing diversity and fostering greater inclusion.
  • Establish effective outreach on EDI matters across the BCER; and
  • Facilitate a broader understanding of EDI matters and increase engagement among employees of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

The scope of the Committee is to guide initiatives surrounding communications, resources, engagement and recommendations.
