Water Management Basins [BCOGC-44435]

Water management basins define locations of water withdrawal when applying for a basin Section 8 application. If it is not possible for a company to pre-define all locations of water withdrawal, companies are then able to apply for a basin Section 8 approval. A basin Section 8 approval allows for withdrawals of up to 45 m3/day, to a maximum of 5,000 m3/year, specified to a drainage basin or basins. Basin Section 8 approvals are limited to small water uses where it is not possible to pre-define withdrawal points, including geophysical exploration, winter ice road construction, dust suppression, hydrostatic testing of pipelines, and other uses, provided the volume use restrictions can be met.

Unconventional Play Trends [BCOGC-44899]

Unconventional play trends depict the general location and extent of unconventional hydrocarbon resources. Play trends will change over time as knowledge of the resource increases. Current examples of unconventional play trends include the Montney, Liard, Cordova and Horn River Basin plays.

BC Production Dashboard [BCOGC-179311]

The BC Production Dashboard provides comprehensive provincial hydrocarbon production data in a highly interactive and user-friendly interface. Users can explore production data across various dimensions, such as geography (basins or province-wide), operator, product type or well vintage – or down to the level of an individual well. Well drilling data is also available.

BCER NEBC Annual Status Data [BCOGC-182231]

The BCER NEBC Annual Status datasets are updated and published annually by the BC Energy Regulator to evaluate the level of disturbance in designated areas in northeast BC. These datasets include a disturbance metric for Old Growth Management Areas (OGMA), Wildlife Habitat Areas (WHA) and Ungulate Winter Ranges (UWR). This information is useful in operational planning and decision making to support consideration of management development allowance, in OGMA, and material adverse effect, in WHA and UWR. This annual disturbance assessment helps to define the level of risk to designated areas and helps the regulator to assess changes overtime. Riparian Reserve Zones are also included in the BCER NEBC Annual Status. This dataset provides a spatial representation of riparian areas and reports riparian disturbance at the water management basin level for consideration under Environmental Protection and Management Regulation. The riparian data is sourced from the Fresh Water Atlas. Field validation of this data is encouraged in development planning.
