British Columbia’s energy resource industry depends on pipelines for the distribution of products such as natural gas, water and oil.

Annually, the BCER prepares a Pipeline Performance Report that provides an overview of pipelines regulated by the BCER. The report includes data on types of pipelines, lengths, uses and overall pipeline incident rates.

By default, the map highlights incidents from the current year (green) and the previous year (purple). Users can toggle data for specific years on or off using the selection tool in the top-left corner of the map.

The map below depicts locations of pipeline incidents by year in the province. The incidents depicted in the map represent pipeline incidents that occurred on pipelines that are in active, deactivated or abandoned status and includes a brief description of the incident cause. The data presented is updated quarterly.
