Updates to the Compliance Management Information System (CM-IS) will change how users enter incident data and how they communicate with the BC Energy Regulator.
The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) employs rigorous compliance and enforcement procedures to ensure energy resource activities are undertaken in a manner that protects public safety and safeguards the environment.
CM-IS is an online application for industry that supports several compliance functions, including inspections and non-compliance management.
A previous update to CM-IS (see Technical Update 2024-14) expanded the types of incidents reported to the BCER using an online application. This update replaces uploaded PDF forms for post-incident review(s) with direct data entry, and adds communication capabilities within the system similar to those in the inspections and non-compliance modules of CM-IS.
Industry users who report and manage incidents reportable to the BCER, will be required to use the updated features of CM-IS to enter incident data and manage and respond to information requests from the BCER.
Incidents reported prior to April 10, 2025, will continue to be managed using the current process.
An instructional video has been posted to the BCER website and an updated user guide will be posted prior to the release.
