Perforation data related to hydraulic fracturing in horizontal wells is improving, to improve clarity for more fulsome analysis.
DATE ISSUED: Nov. 27, 2023
EFFECTIVE DATE: Jan. 2, 2024
The BCER is improving perforation data related to hydraulic fracturing in horizontal wells. Perforation data provides information regarding the number of openings from the wellbore to the rock formation, where natural gas is extracted.
Starting Jan. 1, 2024, perforation file submissions will require, for each interval in a stage, values of:
- top depth
- base depth
- shot count (Number of shots for this interval. Values of zero to 99 acceptable)
The prior value “number of shots per meter” will no longer be collected. This change will improve data clarity for more fulsome analysis to support technology improvements.
The new perf.csv file template is available here. Continue to use the old perf.csv template until Jan. 2, 2024, when the use of the new template is required.
