A new guideline released for the Security Management Regulation is intended to support the new security management requirements that came into effect on June 1, 2023.

The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) has released a new guideline for the Security Management Regulation (B.C. Reg. 181/2022). The Security Management Regulation Guideline is intended to support the new security management requirements that came into effect on June 1, 2023.
A copy of the guideline is available on the BCER’s website and contains:
- Security Management Program development information.
- Cybersecurity, information security, and physical security guidance.
- Training plan and record expectations.
- Guidance on security incident reporting and submission requirements.
- Security Management Program monitoring, review, and update guidance.
Within 14 days after preparing a Security Management Program, permit holders must submit the name and contact information of the person responsible for implementation of the program to security.notifications@bc-er.ca.
