DATE ISSUED: March 7, 2025
EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately
Effective Dec. 11, 2024, a notification permission is being included in all new well permits, extensions and amendments. This permission provides permit holders with a means to notify the BCER of administrative and/or well activity changes where an amendment is not necessary, such as those related to well hazard planning, bottom hole details or well flaring.
- For well permits that include the notification permission, permit holders may use the notification process for future well changes that meet the criteria for notification.
- Notifications can be submitted through e-Submission only after the notification permission has been added to the well permit.
- If the well permit does not include the notification permission, or if a change is being made that does not meet the criteria for notification, permit holders must submit an amendment application.
The Oil and Gas Activity Operations Manual, Oil and Gas Activity Application Manual and eSubmission User Guide have been updated to include this process and outline the criteria for notification.
Additional guidance is available in the “Notification of Minor Well Change” Frequently Asked Questions section on the BCER website.
