A new province-wide toll-free phone number for the public to use when calling to report concerns or emergencies has been launched.

DATE ISSUED: April 20, 2023

EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately

One of the BC Energy Regulator’s (BCER) key priorities is safety and transparency with the public. As a result, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new province-wide toll-free phone number for the public to use when calling to report concerns or emergencies.

The new number—1-877-500-2237 or 1-877-500-BCER—will be staffed 24-hours a day and is for public use only.

The current phone number and process energy industry representatives use to report incidents, through the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, remains unchanged at 1-800-663-3456.

A local number (250-794-5200) for callers from Fort St. John and area to reach the BCER, also remains in place.

Contact information has been updated on bc-er.ca, with a list of all numbers to reach the BC Energy Regulator.
