DATE ISSUED: Aug. 31, 2020
EFFECTIVE DATE: Oct. 1, 2020
The BC Energy Regulator (Regulator) is updating the requirements of the hydraulic fracture data FRAC.csv submission. As of Oct. 1, 2020, frac start time, maximum treating pressure and instantaneous shut in pressure (ISIP) data fields will be mandatory in all FRAC.csv submissions. New definitions for these fields are provided in the Hydraulic Fracture CSV Requirements Guide. The new FRAC.csv template includes a new column to capture the start time of each stage as hours, minutes and seconds. Permit holders can view the new template ahead of time, here.
It is the responsibility of the permit holder to notify service companies that prepare and/or submit FRAC files on their behalf. Submissions made using the old template after Oct. 1, 2020, will be invalid and have an error message returned in eSubmission.
Reporting requirements for both hydraulic fracture operations and FracFocus, including eSubmission and KERMIT processes, remain the same. For further information please refer to the following documents:
- Hydraulic Fracture Data – CSV Requirements Guide
- The Oil and Gas Activities Operations Manual, Chapter 9
- eSubmission User Guide
