Updates to the Stewardship tab in the AMS have been made to retire ABA application requirements and replace with new requirements that support the consideration of cumulative effects and treaty rights.

Updates to the Stewardship tab in the Application Management System (AMS) have been made to retire Area-Based Analysis (ABA) application requirements and replace with new requirements that support the consideration of cumulative effects and treaty rights as described in Technical Update 2024-07.

Changes to the Stewardship tab include:

  • Removing the spatially derived question: “The application is within an Area-Based Analysis Enhanced Management and/or Regulatory Policy Area.”
  • Updating the AMS map viewer and the Application Analysis Report to remove the following layers:
  • ABA Riparian Reserve Zone Current Condition
  • ABA OGMA Current Condition
  • ABA Old Forest Current Condition
  • ABA Wildlife Current Condition layer

And add the following layers:

  • NEBC Riparian Reserve Zone Annual Status
  • NEBC OGMA Annual Status
  • NEBC UWR WHA Annual Status
  • Removing the requirement to upload a mitigation plan when the question, “All activities included in this application will be planned and carried out in accordance with the planning and operational measures outlined in the Environmental Protection and Management Guideline” is answered “no”.
  • Adding the question, “Is a mitigation plan under Appendix B of the Environmental Protection and Management Guidelines or any other BCER initiative required?”
  • Adding the requirement to upload a mitigation plan when the above question is answered “yes”.
